What a Pain in the Neck!

When you work a job day after day, it’s no surprise that you develop aches and pains. Sometimes, those aches and pains are more than they appear, though. It’s important to get medical care when you need it, and workers’ compensation is there for you.

One common injury on the job is a neck injury with pain. Neck pain may start slow and develop over time. You may notice that your arm falls asleep more often or that your shoulders feel pinched. What causes neck pain?

Neck pain comes from anything ranging from strains and sprains to disk problems. Two muscles, the levator scapulae and trapezius, are commonly strained because of their positioning. These long neck muscles help bend and rotate the neck, so if they’re not working properly, you’ll struggle to move freely and without pain.

Why do people end up with neck injuries?

Some people lift something too heavy, while others perform activities repetitively, which causes wear and tear on the muscles over time. Falls and poor posture also play a role in neck pain’s development. It even could we a result of your work station not being ergonomically friendly. 

How can you treat neck injuries?

The first step is to have a medical provider look at your neck. Until you know the cause, it’s hard to treat an injury.
